Declan is an environmental scientist, chartered water manager, chartered environmentalist and risk management consultant who has worked in the public, private and not for profit sector for over twenty five years. Consistent with his commitment to environmental protection, Declan has devoted considerable effort and energy to sustainable development having previously organized and funded the largest climate change conference to be held in Ireland in 2008 with key note speakers that included Dr James Hansen, Director of NASA’ Goddard Institute of Space Studies and Dr R. K. Pachauri, Chairman of the U.N IPCC Climate Change Panel, along with a host of other international speakers and experts on climate change, public health and environmental justice. He has previously served as a Board member of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland and held senior management positions in Industry. In industry he helped secure millions of euro in grants to support environmental excellence in Industry and worked with leading academic institutions to oversee and project management several EU BRITE-EURAM Research projects. After a decade working as an environmental manager and research scientist in industry he established a successful environmental consultancy for a multidisciplinary co-operative and helped establish this company to be one of the largest and most innovative renewable energy and multidisciplinary service providers in Ireland. During this period he recruited and managed a technical and scientific team within the organization was Director of Environment, Planning and Development for the organization. In 2007, he established EnviroManagement Services. He was awarded the 2008 Cork Environmental Forum Award for outstanding individual contribution to the Environment.
